How To Prevent Corrosion And Overheating Car Cooling System Service
To prevent corrosion in the car cooling system (including rust) as well-recommended corrosion inhibitor should be used in both cold weather and warm. First class brands of car cooling system anti-freeze compounds contain dependable corrosion inhibitors. When the liquid anti-freeze is drained off from car cooling system in the spring and the cooling system is filled with water a good brand of corrosion inhibitor should be added.
According to the best practice car cooling system, anti-freeze should be discarded in the spring rather than saved for another year. Dirt, impurities and corrosive material render it unfit for further use and the corrosion inhibitor will have been exhausted.
The products of the corrosion not only interfere with the transfer of heat on car cooling system but if they exist in any quantity they may settle in the bottom of the radiator core where they may interfere with the flow of liquid in the car cooling system and thus cause overheating. Also “hard water” will cause deposits which will reduce the rate of heat transfer.
