The braking system in your vehicle is very important for you and your families safety. The designers have made it very clear for us The brakes are your safety mechanism. If one of this braking system fails, the other system is still functioning to save you and your family from any danger when you apply brakes. The brake system is an integral circuit, starting from your brake pedal, brake master, brake booster, brake fluid pipes, brake caliper to your disc brake pads. Giving your braking system routine maintenance is a good idea.Check the brake fluid level. If your brake master is short on fluid is not that hard to top up the fluid reservoir to the mark.
On your car the front wheels are equipped with disc (rotor) brakes. Around of the disc brake is installed caliper assembly which houses disc brake pads. The following information is for the front and rear disc brake caliper.
Disc Brake Caliper.
Just keep this advice in your mind about the disc brake pads must be replaced on both side and at the same time. You never replace the brake pads only one side of your car wheels. If you do that your car is going to pull to one side when the brakes applies. That going to make you think your car wheel alignment is out. The brake caliper is split into two parts, the cylinder body and there where the piston is logged and sliding on the top of the piston seal situated inside groove built on the caliper cylinder body. The piston is cover with dust seal. The second part of the disc brake caliper is the torque member or the yoke on the some cars. Is fitted on the strut assembly with two bolt . The caliper cylinder body receive the fluid pressure coming from the master cylinder through flexible brake hose. You find also on the caliper cylinder body air bleeder. The cylinder body in mounted on the torque member with two sliding pin and bolt.
How To Remove Your Car Brake Pads From The Disc Brake Caliper?
First thing remove the cap from the fluid reservoir. If the reservoir is full you can take out some of the fluid from it.You can use large screwdriver to push the piston back into the caliper you going to feel the piston sliding back into the cylinder body. Loose and remove the lower cylinder body slide pin bolt. Left up the entire disc brake caliper doing that is going to allow you to have access to the disc brake pads. Two pad retainer one on top other one on the bottom of the disc brake pads, two shims on the side of each brake pads just focus on the position of each pad retainer. The braking system get hot, the shims they not loose may be they stuck on the disc brake pads. Remove your disc brake pads from the caliper and replace them with the new one.
Remember Change All Four Disc Brake Pads On The Same Time.
Now, you can install the new inner disc brake pads and shim, you can use the screwdriver to pull the disc brake caliper to the outer side. Left up back the caliper and install the outer disc brake pad with shim and the pad retainers. You still remember the position of the pad retainers. Drop down the cylinder body and aligned with torque member using slide pin bolt. Tighten the bolt and pump your disc brake pads pedal for few times , you feel the brake pedal getting hard. Once you finish don’t forget to close the cap fluid reservoir, check the fluid level and add some of the fluid if is necessary. Now, you put back your car wheels tighten the nut or the bolt and test your car for the efficient of the disc bake pads.
